Summer Paddling Series: The Goslings
Time: 1:00-4:00 pm
Departure: Mere Point Boat Landing, Brunswick, Maine
Cost: $65 Capacity: 12
Departing from the Mere Point Boat Launch in Brunswick, you’ll paddle past several upper Casco Bay islands on your way to The Goslings, one of Casco Bay’s favorite boating destinations.
This trifecta of small uninhabited islands features sandy pocket beaches, a trio of campsites, and a sandbar that connects East and West Gosling at low tide. The Goslings features a protected sandy anchorage that attracts day trippers and coastal cruisers alike to the renowned beauty of this spot. And keep an eye out as you paddle in – the rock ledges near the island are a favorite hang-out for a large community of seals.
This trip is appropriate for adults and children (8 years old and above recommended) of all skill levels. Beginners welcome.

Choose a single kayak, a tandem kayak, or a paddleboard for this paddling experience!
Malaga Island in Phippsburg was once home to a mixed-race fishing community forcibly removed by the state in 1912. Today, Malaga is a public preserve and an important Maine historical site. This trip includes an easy paddle to the nearby island and a chance to learn about the people who once called the island home.
There will be time to explore the former locations of the homesteads that existed on the northern end of the island and walk the wooded loop trail. Be sure to pack a hearty lunch to complete your island experience.
This trip is appropriate for adults and children (8 years old and above recommended) of all skill levels. Beginners welcome.

A short paddle from the Falmouth Town Landing, Clapboard Island Preserve features a little bit of everything for the perfect island experience: mature hardwoods, towering pines, abundant bird life, a quartet of gravel beaches, and beautiful views of Casco Bay.
There will be plenty of time to enjoy your lunch on the beach and explore the short trail system that runs through the interior of the island. (Pack a big lunch – you’ll be hungry!)

Departing from Mitchell Field in Harpswell, you’ll paddle to one of MCHT’s newest preserves, Little Whaleboat Island, conserved in 2021.
This beloved island features two beautiful campsites (popular destinations on the Maine Island Trail), three crescent cobble beaches, and flat rock ledges overlooking seal haulouts on the southern end of the island.
Just a short paddle away is Whaleboat Island. At 122 acres, it’s the largest wild island in Casco Bay with a classic rocky shoreline, pebble beaches, and an expansive meadow awaiting your exploration.
There will be plenty of time to explore both islands and enjoy a one-of-a-kind island picnic. (Pack a big lunch – you’ll be hungry!)

This trip departs from Winslow Park in Freeport for a short paddle to nearby Lane’s Island Preserve. Located near the mouth of the Royal River, Lanes Island in Yarmouth is 28 acres and features two campsites and a few stretches of sand beach and fringing salt marsh.
There will be plenty of time to explore all Lanes has to offer and enjoy a one-of-a-kind island picnic. (Pack a big lunch – you’ll be hungry!)
