Time 9:00 am-1:00 pm
Departure: Mitchell Field, Harpswell
A Beautiful area to paddle! Harbor Seals, Bald Eagles, and Lobstermen hauling traps… all add to the scenic beauty as we explore some of the most beautiful islands in Casco Bay! Little Whaleboat is one of MCHT’s most recent preserves- added in 2021 with 3 crescent pebble beaches and popular seal haul-outs on the Southern end. Whaleboat is the largest wild island in Casco Bay (122 acres) with a classic rocky shoreline and an expansive meadow.
Bring your lunch or a good snack & drink to have when we stop to explore the Goslings – a trifecta of small uninhabited islands with pocket beaches and a sandbar that connects East and West Gosling at low tide.
Swimmers- don’t forget your towels- plenty of great places to take a quick dip before heading back to our Mitchell Field launch location.
